From the Southwest Florida Symphony
Until circumstances allow us to meet again, please enjoy these wonderful links and sites full of amazing orchestral music and activities!
I know what you’re thinking! ‘One email per week with listening suggestions is just not enough!’ So… here are some ideas of where to listen the rest of the time:
Click on the link to enjoy:
- Classicfm.com
This is an interesting and extensive site to explore, but for quick and easy listening access, click on the green “listen” button at the top right for current classical broadcast listening. You cannot choose what to hear, but the easy access is so convenient! Make sure you explore the other tabs for additional great content. - Music.amazon.com
With a Prime Membership (which you may already have) you can access many listening options either by genre, artist or by generalized stations (like “string quartet”)and can download their free Amazon Music App for your phone if you like. - Classicalarchives.com
For lots of options and control, they offer a $7.99 monthly subscription after a 14-day free trial. You can choose through period, genre, artist, or composer filters, which will open a player where your push ‘play.’ - KUSC
Southern California radio station KUSC broadcasts worldwide live on their website. Again, no controlling what you get to hear, but it is always beautiful and so easy to access! Click on the top right button. - Classicalmusiconly.com
Here you have a little more control with filters again, but you must open this website in the CHROME browser, not Safari.(click for easy download if you don’t already have it). But once open, there are many free, easy, and wonderful listening options. - Spotify or Pandora
If you do not already have an account with one of these, you may enjoy the selection and control with these sites which also offer apps for your phone and which have free (with ads) and paid (about $4.99/month) membership options. - iTunes Radio
For Mac users, you can access this one (not a link )by clicking on the music notes icon in your menu bar, clicking on the ‘Radio’ tab, and then scrolling down to a list of station choices of all genres. You will need to have (and know!)your Apple ID and password. Or, on your iPhone, click on the purple star iTunes app, scroll down, click on ‘Radio, ‘ and choose your classical music station there.
We bring the stage to you, in all its irreplaceable splendor! Can you imagine our lives without this magnificent music?
Take the time to enjoy these great reminders of all we love and miss hearing, until we can meet again safely at Southwest Florida Symphony live concerts!
