ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Alicia Miller served as Director of Scholarships for Lee County Public schools before joining the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Center (DHHC) as their Executive Director in July of 2017. She holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of Florida. She has studied ASL (American Sign Language) and visited Gallaudet University to experience an all-deaf learning environment. Miller’s primary role at DHHC is to provide leadership for the organization while executing its mission: the empowerment of Southwest Florida’s deaf and hard of hearing community and their families. The mission is carried out through education, advocacy, and community involvement. DHHC offers ASL classes levels 1 through 6 for deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing audiences. Other services include interpreters and Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) testing.

ABOUT ABWA IMPERIAL RIVER CHAPTER
The American Business Women’s Association Imperial River Chapter was launched on April 13th, 2016 specifically to serve the women of Estero and Bonita Springs, FL. At that time, other chapters existed in Southwest Florida, but none were convenient to the business women of the area between Fort Myers and Naples. ABWA Imperial River Chapter supports the national organization’s mission: to bring together business women of diverse occupations and to provide opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support, and national recognition. Our chapter raises funds to help reimburse our membership, comprised of local business women, for conferences, seminars, continuing education credits, and other professional development pursuits.
