BONITA SPRINGS, FL – The Bonita Springs YMCA hosted its ribbon cutting event on August 6th in celebration of the opening of its newest Early Learning Center. The Center has been named Bonita Springs YMCA, The Suwyn Early Learning Center after major YMCA supporters and donors Mark and Patt Suwyn. The Suwyn’s contributed over $1 Million to the early learning center.
“When the Advisory Board saw the great work being done in Venice and Englewood by the Sky Family YMCAs we felt there was a strong need for such a facility for our community. So we started down that road and are about to open up a great facility with excellent staff,” said Mark Suwyn, Bonita Springs YMCA Advisory Board Chairman. “That’s what the YMCA does.”
For over 160 years, the Y has provided pathways where kids learn the value of teamwork, acceptance, and social responsibility from the early learning years to adulthood. The center will use Creative Curriculum, which is a comprehensive, research-based curriculum designed to help educators at all levels of experience plan and implement a developmentally appropriate, content-rich program for children with diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
“The SKY Family YMCA is extremely grateful for the support and dedication of Mark and Patt Suwyn. Their generous contribution and leadership not only made the vision of an Early Learning Center at the Bonita Springs YMCA a reality but will provide early learning opportunities for generations to come,” said Gene Jones, President and CEO of the SKY Family YMCA. “Young children will now have access to a high-quality education program because of the Suwyn’s unwavering commitment to our YMCA and the community of Bonita Springs.”
The Early Learning Center incorporates programs to provide developmentally and age-appropriate activities. Here, students develop essential school readiness skills through exploration, investigation and, of course, fun.
The center provides breakfast, lunch and a snack to all students with half day and full day options. In order to accommodate families that work outside of the typical working hours, the Early Learning Center has extended operating hours and offers scholarships for families seeking financial assistance.
