Florida police suspect missing West Long Branch native was murdered

Florida law enforcement are investigating the disappearance and presumed homicide of a former West Long Branch woman who was reported missing more than two weeks ago. Gretchen S. Anthony, 51, is believed to have been slain by her husband on March 21, the Jupiter Police Department, Palm Beach County, Florida, said in a release. Her family had reported her missing March 26. David E. Anthony, her husband, was taken into custody March 31, after he and his vehicle, a black Nissan Frontier, were located in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and kidnapping, police said. Jupiter police responded to Gretchen Anthony’s home after members of her family reported her missing. David E. Gretchen Anthony grew up in West Long Branch and is a 1986 graduate of Shore Regional High School , according to her Facebook, public records and classmates who spoke to the Asbury Park Press.
