Florida unemployment online application going down overnight. (MGN) TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CBS 12) — The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity announced that they won’t be accepting online unemployment applications late Sunday night into Monday morning. The website will be down from 10 p.m to 5 a.m., the agency announced in a tweet. The state’s unemployment website has faced many issues with so many people applying for benefits. “From my heart, I apologize for what you’re going through, this is not caused by any of us,” said Ken Lawson, Executive Director of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. As of Thursday, 227,000 Floridians initiated unemployment claims , up from 74,313 the previous week. Due to the website’s issues, the state is now giving residents the option to mail-in their unemployment applications opposed to filing electronically.
