The Clerk of Court’s Recording Office accepts and verifies passport applications on behalf of the U.S. Department of State. It is the responsibility of the Clerk’s office to review the passport application, collect the correct fees, and make sure that all required documentation is included prior to it being sent.

During Passport Weeks, there will be extended weekday hours, as well as added time on Saturdays to accommodate the challenges for working families (especially those with children) and hope to accommodate as many people as possible. The Lee County Clerk of Court will extend the business hours for the Recording Office, one and half hours each weekday and offer five hours on Saturday – no appointment required.

March 20-24: 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

March 25: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

May 15–19: 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

May 20: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Residents can always apply for passports during regular office hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (must arrive to the office no later than 4:30 p.m.).

Passport Renewals

You may not be required to go to the Clerk’s office for a Passport Renewal. To see if you qualify for a renewal by mail, visit, or call 239-533-5007.

The Recording Office is located at 2115 Second St., 2nd Floor, Fort Myers, 33901.
