Raising Awareness For Recovery & Prevention Efforts In Lee County

ARCHway Institute & The Lee Coalition for a Drug-Free Southwest Flordia Co-host A Murder Mystery Dinner & Silent Auction on November 16, 2020

Across America, COVID-19 has caused an increase in the use, misuse, and abuse of alcohol and drugs. Isolation paired with the economic downturn has led to an increase in stress and mental health disorders like anxiety and depression. As a result, more people are leaning on alcohol and drugs to cope during this time of uncertainty.

It has never been more important to spread awareness as to the needs in the recovery community including the need for access to mental health and substance use treatment, recovery housing, and additional community resources. It is also important that we work to educate youth on addiction and mental health and that we continue to have open and honest conversations about these things in our homes and schools.

ARCHway in collaboration with the Lee Coalition for a Drug-Free SWFL and the Mariner High School Theatre Department is hosting a Murder Mystery Dinner & Silent Auction. While we are planning a safe event with all COVID-19 protocols in place as mandated by the CDC, we hope that this can help the community feel more connected after months of isolation. We also want to celebrate the recovery and prevention efforts across the community.

ARCHway Institute is a 501(c)3 organization that connects people to resources, provides funds to eliminate barriers to recovery, and offers education and awareness around the disease of addiction. For more information, go to https://thearchwayinstitute.org/. During the pandemic, ARCHway has been able to award $42,000 in grants as scholarships to help people gain access to recovery resources.

Likewise, the Lee County Coalition for a Drug-Free Southwest Florida has worked both locally and regionally to provide prevention resources for families. Upcoming campaigns and projects include a regional Teen Leadership Council, to assist Southwest Florida Prevention Coalitions in developing effective prevention social messaging. Funds from the Mystery Dinner will also support Drug House Odyssey, February 2-4, 2021, now in its 27th year of prevention for Lee County Families; and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) Prevention Clubs in local schools and recreation centers.

Join us on November 16th at 5:30 P.M. at The Club at Pelican Preserve to celebrate and support recovery and prevention efforts in Lee County. For more information, contact Emily Jung, Operations Manager with ARCHway Institute at (636) 579-2276 / emily.jung@thearchwayinstitute.org.
