Happy New Year to all of our Lehigh Residents!! We want to thank the Lehigh community for all your support during the Christmas season. Our Red Kettle Campaign did well due to your generous giving. However, we did not quite meet our goal.
There were nearly 400 hundred families and over 500 children who received Christmas gifts, bikes, food and clothing through our Angel Tree program. These were families that may well have gone without not only the necessities but also the ability to provide a joy filled morning for their children on Christmas morning.
Now that the trees are down and the decorations have been neatly packed away, it’s time to get busy in this new year. What does the year ahead look like for The Salvation Army Lehigh Service Center. Well, we are looking forward to another year of opportunities to serve the people of Lehigh!
Our office is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 12:00 and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. We offer assistance applying for and renewing Food Stamps and Medicaid, filling out and completing paperwork for various services, assistance making appointments and arranging transportation. We are able to assist with utilities when funding is available and we offer emergency food and supply information on food pantries in the area. We provide hygiene packs, tarps, blankets, food and snacks along with other supplies for the homeless.
There are many other services that we offer and we welcome the opportunity to serve those who come to us on a daily basis. The work of The Salvation Army goes on 24/7 and it takes the help and support of everyone in our community to keep our doors open.
We currently are without ongoing funding. We are seeking sources of funding from any of the Businesses or individuals in the Lehigh Community that are interested in partnering with us to help support the work and services that we provide. You’ve heard me use the phrase before “it takes a village” and that is exactly what is needed. We need those in this “village” who are able to, to come along side us and help financially support our services.
Our hope and prayer for this new year is that we would be able to not only provide for the physical and material needs, but, that we will be a light in the darkness for those who are struggling whether it be financially, physically or Spiritually. We offer an ear to listen and spiritual direction to support and guide you through and during difficult times.
We solicit your prayers and financial support as we all work together in this new year to not only serve, but to make the lives of those needing our assistance a little brighter and more secure. If you are interested in learning more about
The Salvation Army and what we do in Lehigh, please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to meet with you. Blessings in the year ahead!
