Salvation Army Seeks Help

By Major Brenda Lane
Greetings from The Salvation Army Lehigh Outreach Services. We all have much to be thankful for today. We are blessed that we were spared from the recent hurricane, which caused so much devastation in the Bahamas. Having said that, The Salvation Army is hard at work serving the people of that area even as you read this article. We have sent multiple teams of personnel to help with the recovery and restoration and we solicit your prayers both for those serving and especially for those being served who have virtually lost everything. Should God put it on your heart to help with the Disaster Relief services by making a monetary donation, you may do so by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY (1-800-725-2769)
After the unimaginable, The Salvation Army arrives to bring Hope to the hurting who feel they have no hope and you can be a part of that Hope. Here at our local Lehigh Services Office, we are gearing up for a very busy season ahead of us. Beginning on October 2 going thru to October 25, we will be taking applications for assistance for Christmas toys and food for those families in our area who are struggling and wondering how they will provide Christmas for their children. Those needing assistance may begin calling our office on September 23rd to make an appointment to come into our office to make application. When you call for an appointment, you will also be instructed as to what documentation you will need to bring with you. We are looking forward to assisting many families this year as we did last season. It is our desire that no child go without having a wonderful Christmas and waking up to presents under the tree and food on the table on Christmas morning. If you are interested in helping fund the purchasing of toys and food, you may call our local office at 239-491-6071
We are excited to once again partner with and be a part of the wonderful Christmas program that is being speared headed by Lehigh Community Services for the Senior population in our area. Last year was a great success and the folks that attended enjoyed themselves so much. That was a result of the great working relations of Lehigh Community Services, Lehigh Senior Center, Presbyterian Homes and The Salvation Army and we appreciate Carolyn Peplow for her leadership in this event and all that it means to the seniors of our area.
It won’t be long now before you will begin seeing the Red Kettles and hearing the sweet tinkling of the bell as we begin another Red Kettle Campaign to raise money to support the services we give during the holidays as well as those we serve throughout the year. Without the help and support of our community, we wouldn’t be able to provide the services needed by those who come to us on a daily basis. Our Red Kettle Campaign will begin on November 29th and go thru December 24th. The funds that are funds that are raised during this time period are greatly needed to keep our services going. So, we hope that whenever you pass one of the Red Kettles, you will take a moment to stop and say hello to the bell ringer and drop your donation in the red pot!
The people of Lehigh have been wonderful with their financial support each year during this fund raising Campaign and we are very grateful for each one of you who make it possible for The Salvation Army to continue to serve those in need in our area. If you are interested in being a Bell Ringer, you may contact our office starting October 14th for information on applying. We at The Salvation Lehigh Outreach Services want to wish you and your family a wonderful and blessed fall and holiday season. If we can be of service to you in any way, please call us or come by our office. We are located at 25 Homestead Rd. N Suite 42 (next to the Chamber of Commerce) and our phone number is 239-491-6071. Our office is open Monday thru Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. God Bless you all!!
