Fundraising event for Gulf Coast Humane Society
The Seventh Annual The Fast and the Furriest 5K run and 1-mile walk fundraising event to benefit Gulf Coast Humane Society will be held Saturday, April 8, at Hammond Stadium beginning at 7:30 a.m.
With the date of one of GCHS’ most important fundraisers fast approaching, the shelter has a goal to grow the event.
“We would like to see our numbers grow, and the way we do that is to publicize it more,” said GCHS Executive Director Jennifer Galloway. “The event itself is family affair. Participants can register to either walk or run with or without their dogs.”
The 5K run registration fees are $30 for a chipped adult and $35 for an adult participating with a dog. A chipped youth in the 5K is $20 and $25 with a dog. The One-Mile run/walk is $15 for all ages and a $40 family package is also available for the mile walk.
The day of the race registration starts at 6 a.m., while the 5K Run begins at 7:30 a.m. and the mile walk will begin at 7:35 a.m. The first 350 pre-registered participants of the 5K run or mile run will receive a T-shirt and a goodie bag prior to the races. There will be an awards ceremony afterwards, with awards given to the overall male and female and top three in each age group, as well as the top three dogs in three different weight classes.
