Chairman of the Greater
Lehigh Acres Chamber
By: Mike Welch
In last month’s issue of Voices of Lehigh, I highlighted for our readers that a special election has been called – a referendum for the voters’ consideration to change the method on tax assessment within the District. The District reports that the District’s cost burden needs to be more fairly shared by the property owners in the District. For information on the wording of the Ballot question please visit www.LehighFD.com. For those that vote by mail you must contact the Supervisor of Elections to request a ballot by May 29th at 5:00 p.m. Please visit https://lee.electionsfl.org/vote-by-Mail. Early voters may vote at the East County Regional Library on Gunnery Road from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the dates mentioned above.
Remembering Lee County Commission Chairman Larry Kiker
Lehigh residents along with the rest of Lee County learned that one of our county commissioners Larry Kiker passed away this past April 23rd. Larry was Commissioner Chairman and he was no stranger to Lehigh Acres/Eastern Lee County. All of us were fortunate to have Larry come our way and it is due his leadership that various infrastructure improvements are underway. Before and after Hurricane Irma Commissioner Kiker was one of our County leaders who worked with his colleagues on the Board to get Lehigh and Lee County back on its feet. We are all fortunate to have Larry Kiker come our way. Contact us at VoicesofLehigh@gmail.com
