This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn the tricks of the trade from a New York casting professional.
FORT MYERS, FL (March 3, 2021) – On April 10, the Alliance for the Arts will present a masterclass which offers students the unique chance to work on their audition techniques, improve their materials and receive feedback in an educational, fun and supportive environment. The class will be instructed by Chad Eric Murnane, CSA who is a New York-based Casting Director at Binder Casting. With a career in entertainment spanning a decade, he has worked in theatre, film, and television across the United States.
With years of experience as a casting director, Chad has a nuanced perspective of common pitfalls, from lack of preparation to unraveling in the moment. This insight is what allows him to help bolster the artist’s most authentic and engaging storytelling. He works with both musical theatre and non-musical artists to identify their individual strengths, highlighting what they can bring to the material in order to own the audition room. He believes that to be successful, artists need to be assertive about what makes them uniquely stand out. By embracing this philosophy, Chad teaches artists how to make the most of every audition opportunity.
“I started my career by interning at the Alliance for the Arts summer arts camp and I hope I can inspire people in my hometown to follow their hearts and passions,” says Chad.
“You can absolutely grow up or live in a small town, have big-city dreams, and make those dreams come true, whatever they may be. It seems cliché, but it’s a reality for so many like me. Through teaching this masterclass, I hope to inspire the next generation of arts professionals. I know dozens of people from Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Naples that have fulfilling professional careers in New York and Los Angeles—careers that span from performing on Broadway, to being on film and television sets, to casting, and everything in between. If you find yourself in these cities, know that you will have an extended family of southwest Florida natives just waiting to welcome you into our family.”
This one-day-only workshop will be held April 10 from 1 – 5 p.m. at the Alliance for the Arts, 10091 McGregor Blvd. Pre-registration is required at ArtInLee.org/MasterClass. The cost of the workshop is $120 for Alliance members or $150 for non-members. You can choose to attend the workshop as an auditor for $45. Auditing participants will not be able to perform and there is limited availability to be an auditor.
This class is hosted onsite and in the Alliance for the Arts theatre. If you are joining for onsite programming, face masks are required at all times when in the building. The only time masks are allowed to be removed is for individual performances. Class size is limited to 16 students to ensure responsible distancing.
To register for the class or to audit, students must be ages 16 or older. For more information, to sign up or to learn more about Chad, please visit ArtInLee.org/MasterClass or call 239-939-2787.
