Premier Mobile Health Services rolls into Cape Coral
After a one-year hiatus due to Hurricane Ian, an annual chili cook-off that benefits local charities returns to Cape Coral this weekend.
The SWFL Charities Foundation event takes place on Sunday, April 7, 1-6 p.m. at Club Square in Cape Coral. Activities include chili contests for both individuals and restaurants, crafts and arts vendors, and live music from Roxx Revolt + The Velvets, Foolish Relics and Bargain Bin Heroes.
All proceeds benefit two organizations: Korean War Veterans Chapter 155 Southwest Florida and Premier Mobile Health Services, a nonprofit mobile medical clinic that brings essential care to those in need across Lee County.
The mobile clinic will be onsite to see patients on a walk-in basis. Patients without insurance and those who provide proof of income below 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines are provided care at no cost; others in need pay on a sliding scale based on income.
“Their services are so very needed – especially now,” said Lena Neroni, SWFL Charities Foundation president, noting how many in the community continue to deal with losses sustained from Ian. “Everybody is still struggling.”
In previous years, about 4,000 people attended the chili cook-off, Neroni said. The foundation has previously raised funds for local veterans, animal rescue organizations, health education groups, cancer patients and more.

Founded in 2018, the nonprofit organization operates a mobile medical clinic serving the uninsured and low-income children, families and individuals at six locations across Lee County, as well as at a walk-in, bricks-and-mortar clinic in Fort Myers.
Available services include early-detection health screenings, blood pressure and diabetes checks, drug screenings, basic metabolic profiles, nutrition counseling, basic vaccinations, health education, school and sports physicals for children, as well as acute and chronic disease management. Patients without insurance and those who provide proof of income below 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines account for two-thirds of its population and are provided care at no costs; others in need pay on a sliding scale based on income.
Premier Mobile Health Services holds a 2023 Gold Rating from the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics’ Quality Standards Program, highlighting the organization’s commitment to quality patient care. The organization has served more than 12,000 patients, providing frontline care during the COVID-19 pandemic and in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.
