Before we go any further, I want to make it clear I am not saying to thank Fluffy’s doctor. While it is good manners to thank your pet’s doctor, the Vet I am referring to is the one who served in the United States Military at any given time!
November 11th is Veteran’s Day and there are many different ways to honor the Veteran. A very special and important idea is to purchase a poppy from the person standing in front of your local store with a handful and canister for donations, or drop in at any VFW Post of American Legion and give your donation there.
There will be celebrations in many places which you will be able to attend, many flag presentations, picnics, barbeques, and a Veterans Day event at any local VFW or Legion. Another way to participate if you’re not one who likes going out in crowds is to view or download a documentary film of the Viet Nam War. The Website is AVVBA.org.
This film was created by the Atlanta Vietnam Veterans Business Association Foundation, Inc. and is a 47 minute documentary film entitled “Truths and Myths About the Vietnam War”. It provides factual information to address the decades of misinformation that have presented a very controversial perspective of the war.
An introduction of the film is done by Hollywood Actor, Sam Elliott. It was made to honor those who served in the war. It is a very important and long overdue film which helps us understand and gives insight to the lessons we have learned , lessons which most Vietnam Veterans want reported about that war. It has been seen by many veterans of the war and has generated much enthusiasm. The film is considered the best ever produced Vietnam.
Or, you can stop in at The Little Post With the Big Heart, VFW Post 4174 located in Lehigh Acres at 25 S. Homestead Road. We are open Sunday through Saturday and welcome the public. Our Post has become smoke free and our parking lot is newly paved. Come join us at any time. You’ll be glad you did!
