At this writing our communities in East Lee/Lehigh escaped damage as experienced farther west of us along the shoreline and in other areas of our state. The destruction is indeed heartbreaking and massive flooding in low-lying areas is now a facet of life. We have received inquiries at this point of time regarding FEMA disaster assistance. GREAT NEWS REGARDING HEALTHCARE
It was recently reported that Lehigh Regional Medical Center has been sold to Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). HCA is one of the largest healthcare providers in Florida and the country. Some 20 years ago, HCA owned Lehigh Regional, known as Eastpoint Hospital. The community will await to hear of HCA’s new presence in our community. Building a new healthcare center at Babcock Ranch (service area includes East Lee) will be an interesting future for healthcare in our area.
PREPARING FOR THE HOLIDAYS
The Salvation Army—Lehigh Acres Unit and Lehigh Acres Community Services always need our involvement with their work with our time and treasure. The ravages of the housing shortage and homelessness, as well as other costs, are all apparent in our community. As we prepare to give thanks and reflect on the holidays, both agencies need our help.
