Lee Health is excited to introduce a new surgical tool called the Maestro™ Platform from Moon Surgical. This advanced technology helps doctors perform minimally invasive procedures with even more precision and control. It supports the surgical team by making surgeries more efficient, less physically demanding, and easier to plan. This means better outcomes for patients and a smoother experience in the operating room.

Lee Health’s robotics program has grown to 31 robots utilized for an array of procedures all around the hospitals and outpatient facilities every day. The robotics program is largely funded by the support of the Lee Health Foundation.

The Maestro Platform provides an accessible, enhanced version of traditional laparoscopy (minimally invasive abdominal surgery) that supports stable visualization and reliable retraction while preserving the surgeon’s preferred technique, instruments, and workflow. Powered by the NVIDIA Holoscan platform, Maestro is designed to unlock consistency, impact, and scalability, optimizing procedural timelines and improving overall surgical management.

“At Lee Health, our priority is always delivering the highest quality care to our patients,” said Dr. Juan Ibarra. “Investing in innovative tools reflects our commitment to supporting our surgical teams with the resources they need to work more efficiently and safely. This technology enhances how we perform minimally invasive procedures, which helps improve outcomes and recovery for the people we serve.”

As part of the first stage, Lee Health completed more than 100 laparoscopic procedures using Maestro, including bariatric and general cases. The team assessed its impact on workflow, setup efficiency, and surgical focus.

  • Zero Adverse Events: To date, no adverse outcomes have been linked to the use of Maestro.
  • In the first 25 bariatric procedures alone, the new system saved the equivalent of 8.3 full working days of surgical tech time.

The launch of the program supports Lee Health’s efforts to offer surgeons a versatile, adaptable platform capable of supporting both routine and complex laparoscopic procedures. The streamlined workflow allows staff valuable time to address other needs and creates scalable solutions for improving surgical performance and patient outcomes.
