Next month’s roster of activities at Riverdale Public Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

Adult Programs

Knit and Stitch

1 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 15

A casual, self-guided group for knitting, crochet and other needle arts. Join in to share projects, ideas and techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and tools. Basic materials and supplies are available for newcomers.

Book Discussion: “The Astral Library” by Kate Quinn

10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 2

Have you ever wished you could live inside a book? Welcome to the Astral Library, where books are not just objects, but doors to new worlds, new lives and new futures.

Spanish Conversation Club

6 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 14, 21, 28

Are you ready to take your Spanish-speaking skills to the next level?  Come test your skill level and improve your fluency by chatting with other adults. Join us as we practice speaking Spanish with others on a variety of topics. Intermediate to advanced Spanish-speaking skills are recommended in order to get the most out of the session. Registration is required.

All Hazards Preparedness with Lee County Emergency Management

10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 9

Are you ready for the storm? Join Lee County Emergency Management for an informative session on Hurricane Preparedness. Learn critical tips and strategies to protect your home, family and community when disaster strikes. From creating survival kits, to understanding evacuation routes, this program will equip you with the knowledge you need to face the season with confidence.

Design Your Own Beach Hat

1 p.m. Saturday, April 11

Ready to hit the sand in style? Transform a simple straw hat into a one-of-a-kind creation. Hats and decorations will be supplied. Registration is required. This program is intended for adults 18 and older.

Navigating Alzheimer’s

10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 22

Explore the progressive journey of Alzheimer’s disease and learn essential strategies for each stage and how to manage them. This presentation will equip caregivers and family members with the knowledge and tools needed to offer compassionate and effective care. Presented by Stephanie Malally, MSW from Lee Health.

Dungeons and Dragons

2 p.m. Saturday, April 25

Curious about Dungeons and Dragons? Join us for an afternoon of collaborative storytelling and strategy. From total beginners to veteran players, everyone is welcome to pull up a chair and join the party. Our guide for the journey, James E. Green III, will help navigate the rules and the monsters alike. Come for the game, stay for the community.

Children’s Programs

Family Storytime

10 a.m. Friday, April 3, 10, 17

10 a.m. Saturday, April 4

For children through age 5 years with caregiver. Enjoy books, rhymes, songs and activities. This fun and engaging program offers kids a chance to make friends and build skills through stories, music and movement. Caregivers participate with their children while learning helpful early literacy strategies and tips to continue at home.

Lego Build

1 p.m. Saturday, April 4

This is a fun, hands-on experience designed for school-age children, ages 6-12 years, who love to create, imagine and explore. This unstructured, drop-in style program encourages kids to use their creativity and problem-solving skills while building unique structures, scenes and inventions with Lego bricks.

Mario Kart Tournament

1 p.m. Saturday, April 18

Get ready to partake in fun and friendly Mario Kart races, where you can show off your gaming skills and enjoy some friendly competition. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or a newcomer, this tournament is designed to be fun for all levels. This program is intended for kids ages 6-11 years.

Baby Rhyme Time

10 a.m. Friday, April 24

For babies through age 18 months with caregiver. Wiggle and giggle to bond with your baby through books, rhymes and songs in this lap-sit program that introduces early literacy skills and encourages language, motor and social skills. Each program offers literacy tips and strategies to stimulate your baby’s brain development and enhance future reading success.

Teen Programs

Anime Hour

2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 7

Enjoy an hour of anime entertainment, creative expression and lively discussions. This program is specially curated for anime enthusiasts to indulge in their passion for Japanese animation while hanging out among like-minded peers. Snacks provided and cosplay encouraged. This program is for teens ages 12-18 years.

Paint a Flowerpot

3 p.m. Tuesday, April 21

Teens will paint and personalize flowerpots to celebrate Earth Day. No experience needed, just bring your creativity.
