Network Expansion in Will Help Provide a Better Network Experience to Customers
AT&T has expanded its 5G network in Lee County, providing residents, businesses, and visitors with a significant boost in wireless connectivity. AT&T added a new cell site to enhance the area’s coverage and capacity.
The new site in Lehigh Acres boosts coverage along Buckingham Road and Sunshine Boulevard, enhancing the network experience for nearby residential communities and the Buckingham Airpark area. Additionally, this cell site improves coverage for FirstNet customers.
“Our commitment remains strong to close the digital divide by expanding our network footprint and delivering fast, dependable internet that keeps residents, businesses, and first responders seamlessly connected,” said Thais Asper Keane, regional director, external affairs, AT&T Florida. “As hurricane season approaches, investing in resilient, high-capacity infrastructure is essential—especially through FirstNet, which provides a dedicated, priority network for public safety during emergencies.”
AT&T 5G brings fast, reliable and secure connectivity to more than 300 million people in over 24,900 cities and towns nationwide, which includes Lehigh Acres. This helps Florida residents and businesses get the best possible experience over the AT&T network wherever they live, work and play.
These enhancements also bring Band 14 spectrum to the area. Band 14 is nationwide, high-quality spectrum set aside by the government specifically for FirstNet® – the only nationwide communications network created with and for public safety. We look at Band 14 as public safety’s VIP lane. In an emergency, this band – or lane – can be cleared and locked exclusively for FirstNet subscribers. When not in use by FirstNet subscribers, AT&T customers can enjoy Band 14’s added coverage and capacity.
From 2019 to 2023, AT&T invested more than $5.4 billion in our wireless and wireline networks in Florida. These investments boost reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and their businesses.
