Adult Programs
East County Craft Club: Iced Latte Soap
2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1
This month the East County Craft Club will create iced latte soap. Registration is required. This program is intended for teens and adults. In-person attendance closes 15 minutes into the program. Microwaves used during the program.
Lee County Taxes 101
11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3
This informative program will present an overview of the Lee County Tax Collector’s services and strategy and the Lee County Property Appraiser’s overview of exemptions and homestead portability. This program is presented by the Lee County Tax Collector and Lee County Property Appraiser. Registration is required.
English Café

Free, informal conversation sessions for adult ESOL/ESL students.
Waste in Motion: The Full Cycle Experience
11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10
Learn how we’re working together to build a more sustainable future for Lee County and discover the innovative processes behind recycling and waste-to-energy. Presented by Lee County Solid Waste. Registration is required.
Knit and Stitch
5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 26
A casual, self-guided group for knitting, crochet and other needle arts. Join in to share projects, ideas and techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and tools. Basic materials and supplies are available for newcomers.

Join friends and friendly competitors alike for games of strategy, chance and fun. Bring your own game or choose from the library’s collection of chess sets, card games, board games, role playing games, Wii and more.
Download Drop-In
11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20
Receive personalized help downloading eBooks, eAudioBooks, movies, music and more from Libby/OverDrive and hoopla, two of Lee County Library System’s popular online content providers. Support also will be available to registered users of the National Library Service’s Braille and Audio Reading Download service (BARD) which is provided through Home Borrower Services and Lee County Talking Books. Note: Attendees should bring their favorite tablet, e-reader or phone. Be sure it’s fully charged and have your passwords for downloading apps available. Kindle users also must have an Amazon account and password. Patrons interested in BARD should contact Talking Books at 239-533-4780 before attending to ensure they have an active account or find out how to set one up.
Children’s Programs
Kids Read Down Fines
3 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 12, 19, 26
11 a.m. – Noon Saturday, Aug. 8
Children and teens with overdue fines can reduce their fine by $2 for every 15 minutes they read during this program. Each child can earn up to a maximum of $8 in one session. Credit may be applied to overdue fines on cards issued to patrons under the age of 18 as well as overdue fines for juvenile and teen materials checked out on their behalf on adult cards. Credit earned may only be used for overdue fines. Please bring your library card and check in at Youth Desk.
Read to Dogs
11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8
Join us at the library and read to dogs. These registered therapy animals volunteer with their owner/handler as a team to help kids practice reading. Participating children can read down their fines or just have fun reading to these furry friends. Bring your own book or find a favorite from the library collection. No reservations required.

Puppets & Pop Up Books

Discover the joy of three-dimensional reading. After listening to a story read aloud, families can browse our collection of puppets and pop-up books and read with their children. Open to children through age 5 years with caregiver.
Mystery Craft Redo

Families with children through age 5 years are welcome to sample a variety of popular craft projects from recent storytime programs. Recreate your favorite or try one that you missed. Space is limited; available while supplies last.
M&M Mosaics
6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24
Children through age 5 years and their caregivers are invited to an evening of sugary crafting. Use M&Ms and your imagination to create a colorful, candy mosaic. Dress for mess. Space is limited; available while supplies last.
Family Game Night: Elementary Open House
6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25
Enjoy a family night out at the library. Play giant games and a round or two of BINGO while learning about library resources and upcoming fall programs. While you’re here, you can also sign up for library cards for the whole family, meet library staff and visit our after-school spaces. Open to grades K-5 and their families.
Little Racers
10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26
Zip and zoom around the meeting room with toy cars and handmade racetracks. Children will have an opportunity to socialize and play while learning to share and take turns with new friends. For children ages 2-5 years.
Preschool Playdate
6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31
Children through age 5 years and their caregivers are invited to a special playdate. Meet new friends while developing early literacy skills through games, toys and music.

Teen Thursday: High School Movie

Bring your friends and favorite snacks to watch the musical reboot of a classic teen film. Rated PG-13. Open to ages 13-18 years.
