FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 14, 2021) – Child Care of Southwest Florida is hosting a free continuing education workshop on June 19 to help early childhood education teachers sharpen their classroom leadership skills.
“Diving Deeper into Instructional Support” is a three-hour course that will help teachers become better facilitators in the classroom and encourage children to expand their learning. The class covers effective learning strategies, including the development of hands-on activities, that enrich the classroom environment.
The course is offered through Child Care of Southwest Florida’s Focus on Four initiative that prepares 4-year-olds for kindergarten. Focus on Four is a highly effective program concentrating on four pillars of learning: social-emotional skills, literacy and language development, STEM activities and hands-on learning opportunities.
“The year before children start kindergarten is critically important to their success as students in elementary school and beyond,” said Chris Hansen, CEO of Child Care of Southwest Florida. “Pre-K is where children lay the foundation for the academic, social, emotional and behavioral growth, and we want to make sure children across the five-county region, and across socioeconomic classes, have access to high-quality early childhood education programs.”
“Diving Deeper into Instructional Support” will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 19 at the IMAG Theater, 2031 Jackson St. in Fort Myers. The Lee Chapter of Florida Association for the Education of Young Children will provide Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to attendees.
The course is sponsored by The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation and supported by Florida Gulf Coast University and Child Care of Southwest Florida.
