$25 Million in Grant Funding Now Available for Agricultural Water Projects

Program supports regional partnerships to protect Florida’s water and strengthen farming communities

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) has opened applications for the Agricultural Regional Projects Program, offering $25 million in grant funding for projects that improve water quality and conserve water across the state.

The program is designed to help farmers, ranchers, and growers work together on regional projects that protect Florida’s water resources while supporting a strong and sustainable agricultural economy. Funded projects will focus on practical, science-based solutions that address both water quality and water supply.

Working Together for Florida’s Future

Florida’s agricultural producers have long served as caretakers of the land and water. This initiative builds on that legacy by supporting partnerships that can deliver measurable results. Eligible projects may include irrigation improvements, nutrient management and runoff prevention, water storage or reuse, and restoration of natural areas that help recharge the aquifer.

“Protecting Florida’s water resources is essential to our state’s future — and Florida’s farmers, ranchers, and growers are central to that mission,” FDACS said in a statement. “Through this program, we’re building strong partnerships that can deliver real, practical solutions.”

Local Impact

For East Lee County and nearby rural communities, the program offers a significant opportunity. Regional water projects can help reduce flooding, enhance soil health, protect local waterways like the Caloosahatchee River, and strengthen long-term agricultural resilience.

These efforts not only safeguard the environment but also support the local economy — ensuring that Florida’s farming families continue to thrive alongside healthy ecosystems.

How to Apply

Full program guidelines, eligibility requirements, and application details are available at FDACS.gov. Applications are open now to farmers, water management districts, local governments, universities, and other organizations interested in developing regional agricultural water resource projects. The application deadline is Friday, November 7, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
