Participants to create solutions for some of SWFL’s most challenging problems
The Frank G. Daveler Entrepreneurship Institute at Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) invites aspiring entrepreneurs, innovators, and changemakers to participate in its inaugural 24-hour Hackathon, beginning at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7 in Building K at the FSW’s Lee Campus, 8099 College Parkway, Fort Myers.
Open to students and community members ages 18 and older, the event challenges participants, whether as individuals or teams, to turn bold ideas into impactful solutions through an intensive sprint of creativity, collaboration and problem solving.
Participants will work alongside peers and receive expert guidance from FSW entrepreneurship faculty and industry professionals who will serve as mentors throughout the event. In addition to forming teams and developing prototypes, participants will choose to solve real-world challenges from categories like sustainable environmental solutions and educational technology innovations or bring their own business or community-driven ideas to the table.
$1,750 in prizes will be awarded, recognizing creative solutions, technical excellence, innovation, and entrepreneurial potential. The 24-hour experience culminates in final team presentations before a panel of expert judges, followed by a showcase celebrating all participants’ creativity and vision.
