Hair tells the story of the “tribe”, a group of politically active, long-haired hippies of the “Age of Aquarius” living a bohemian life in New York City and fighting against conscription into the Vietnam War. Claude, his friend Berger, their roommate Sheila and their friends struggle to balance their young lives, loves and the sexual revolution, with their rebellion against the war and their conservative parents and society.

The bloom is an advanced fluid art technique that includes three different paint recipes for each layer, using a blowdryer/spinner to create gorgeous cells and lacing. This class includes a handout of products used and paint guide. We will complete 4-6 art pieces of varying sizes from 8” to 16” rounds and squares. Advanced techniques include larger blooms, deconstructed blooms, bloom swipes and using dry pigments to elevate metallic shimmer in your bloom colors. Previous experience with the Bloom technique is recommended. (See the Beginner Bloom Workshop). BRING: a hairdryer with a nozzle attachment. Travel hairdryers work best. You will get paint on it – so plan accordingly.

Students will transform raw metal into an elegant rose sculpture through the ancient art of metalworking. Beginning with a demonstration of basic hammering techniques, participants will shape flat metal sheets into delicate petals using specialized hammers and anvils. The instructor guides students through the process of texturing, shaping, and assembling the elements, teaching them to anneal the metal for malleability and use cold connections to bring the flower to life. Discover the magic of resin and crushed glass in this Geode inspired wall art class. Let’s paint the bigger picture. This workshop combines demos, in-class assignments and individual instruction to teach students the techniques to create fresh, deliberate marks on a big canvas.  Using observational painting as our launching point (we’ll start with/observational but deviate from it), we’ll embark each day with energetic painting exercises designed to tap into each participant’s personal voice. The practice of working directly from life results in a heightened awareness and a lasting impression of the moment. Incorporating other elements, from photos, etc., we’ll create an interconnectivity with our immediate surroundings and our personal voice. We’ll paint freer and bolder and let our personalities inspire what we see.. Through painting and exercises, we’ll analyze what influences our choices and how to incorporate our personal voice in our work.  All demos are in acrylic (oil painters welcome too!).

Join artist Lisa Daria Kennedy as she discusses using observation as a launching point in painting.  The practice of working direct from life results in a heightened awareness and a lasting impression of the moment and combining still life and interior painting creates an interconnectivity with our immediate surroundings. But what do we add to a painting when we’ve run out of things in our immediate surroundings? How do we create a narrative while staying authentic to our personal voice? Join the lecture to find out.

Fused glass pendants are exquisite pieces of wearable art created through a fascinating process. You will create 4 pendants, 1″x2″ each that will come alive with an array of colors. Imagine iridescent blues, fiery reds, and shimmering greens dancing across the surface. Dichroic glass, with its magical color-shifting properties, adds an extra layer of enchantment.  Learn how to cut, arrange, and layer glass to achieve different results. We provide the glass, materials, wine, pizza and artistic guidance.

Here’s your chance to create a beautiful mosaic artwork in one night! After enjoying a light dinner and wine, choose from beautiful images provided or create your own. The fun begins as you select gorgeous glass pieces and learn the ancient mosaic technique that will bring your image to life! We provide the glass, materials, wine, a delicious meal and artistic guidance.

Raku & You CAMPBELL, July 28, 5:30 – 8:30 PM

Raku is a centuries old pottery glazing and firing process. The technique produces a lustrous, often metallic, finish. Raku & You is an evening devoted to this ancient process. Attendees choose from a number of bisque fired pots and are introduced to the history of Raku while applying glaze to their pot in their own unique design. While the outdoor kiln heats up to the correct temperature; attendees enjoy a picnic-style meal. Then the fun begins as red hot pottery is plunged into metal containers filled with combustible material. The containers are lidded and the pots rest for a few moments before being quickly cooled with water. The results are spectacular and everyone is invited back into the studio to view each piece. Everyone goes home with their very own raku masterpiece.

Each day brings new opportunities to build confidence, explore artistic expression, and collaborate with fellow performers while working towards our grand finale – a dazzling variety show that showcases the students’ growth across all disciplines at the end of the camp! For a full-day camp, combine with a half-day block schedule or visual arts camp.

Crafted by seasoned digital art instructors, each day consists of a well-rounded curriculum that ignites the imagination, nurtures creativity, and cultivates self-assurance through various digital art mediums such as digital filmmaking, game design, and photography through a perfect blend of computer skills, collaborative projects, and personal creativity. Students will be introduced to professional industry standard software, develop storytelling techniques, create amazing digital projects, and showcase their work in a final exhibition that celebrates their unique artistic voice!
