The City of LaBelle continues its coordinated response and environmental cleanup efforts following the recent wastewater discharge into a nearby drainage ditch.
City crews remain actively engaged in remediation efforts and are currently pumping water from the affected drainage ditch. As part of the cleanup process, the affected water has been safely pumped from the ditch and introduced back into the City’s wastewater system for proper disposal and treatment. Once the affected water
has been removed, clean water is being introduced into the brackish water to aid in the disinfection process. These measures are being implemented to support environmental recovery and ensure the remediation is conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
The City continues to work closely with the appropriate regulatory agencies and remains committed to complying with all applicable environmental requirements throughout the remediation process.
Protecting the health and safety of our residents, neighbors and preserving the City’s natural resources remain the City’s highest priorities. The City appreciates the patience and understanding of the community as these important cleanup efforts continue.
