2021 has arrived, Lehigh Community Services would like to wish each of you and your families a year of happiness and good health.

FREE tax preparation is available now at Lehigh Community Services, 201 Plaza Dr. Suite #3. The VITA program (voluntary income tax assistance) has volunteer preparers certified by the IRS. You can have your taxes prepared FREE if your household income was $66,000 or less in 2020. Appointments are evenings and Saturdays. To schedule please call Lehigh Community Services at (239) 369-5818.

Drop off tax services are also available; save some time and being in contact with others by using VITA Valet – Individuals can drop off all the documents to file their taxes during the day on Tuesdays (by appointment) at Lehigh Community Services, the volunteers will prepare the taxes and have them ready for pickup on the following Tuesday. Call for your appointment today.

VITA appointments will be available throughout the filing season ending April 15, 2021. Each year VITA has over one million dollars in refunds returned to our community through the Lehigh Acres Site.

Lehigh Community Services 10th annual Lobster Fest is right around the corner; Tickets for the event are $65 and include a meal of 1 1/4 lb Maine Lobster, Sirloin Steak or 1/2 Chicken, Creamy Clam Chowder, Maine Steamed Clams, Maine Mussels, Baby Red Potatoes, Corn on the Cob, Hard Boiled Eggs, Cole Slow, Rolls, Condiments and Strawberry Shortcake. Call for more information and tickets (239) 369-5818. The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church.

Lehigh Community Services’ food pantry is open and serving the community; and always looking for donations; canned food items such as vegetables, meat, pasta and beans along with other non-perishable foods like boxed milk, sugar, flour, etc. and hygiene products are very welcome. In 2020 the pantry was very fortunate to receive donations of a new commercial Refrigerator and Freezer from the Lehigh Acres Rotary and Lehigh Acres Kiwanis Club, and a

grant to purchase a second refrigerator to help meet the needs of those experiencing hunger. This opens up the opportunity to receive other donations of items not always available at food pantries; consider butter and eggs as donations.

The food pantry is currently open 2 days a week, Monday and Wednesday from 8:45 am to 11:00 am; first time visitors are asked to bring their photo identification and proof of Lehigh Acres address.

Are you interested in volunteering? Opportunities are available in the food pantry, special events and other office projects.
