Lee County taxpayers: you’re being taken for a ride. The School District is plowing ahead with a $162 million high school on a remote, dangerous stretch of Joel Blvd—not where the students are, but where future developers want to build.
No public meetings.
No traffic infrastructure.
No transparency.
They ignored their own policies on concurrency and dismissed public opposition. They even forced citizens to pay for access to environmental reports that should be public!
Meanwhile, a far better option—Joel & David—is cheaper, safer, and ready to build. The District already owns both sites. So why push the more expensive, isolated one? Follow the money and the developers circling SR 80 and SR 82.
This isn’t planning. It’s profiteering.
We demand accountability. We demand smart, student-focused decisions. We demand a high school where our kids actually live.
Tell the Lee County School Board: Do the land swap. Build at Joel & David. Stop wasting taxpayer dollars on backroom deals.
