Hello Members and Friends,
We hope everyone who was impacted by the storms is recovering well. I know it has been a rough couple of years for some of us. This is to remind you that we are continuing our 2nd Thursday of the month Speaker Series. Thursday, November 14th Koreshan Volunteer Ron Westcott will present a program on the Koreshans. His program will trace the history of Cyrus Teed and the Koreshan Unity back to its roots in the 1800’s, from New York to Chicago and ultimately to their settlement in Estero, FL. Ron will go into detail about the conflict between the Koreshans and the people of Fort Myers, culminating in the street fight of 1906 that changed everything. This presentation is free and open to the public. We encourage you to arrive a little early for socializing. Coffee and cookies will be served. Ron’s presentation begins at 7pm. The presentation is held at the Collaboratory – former location of the train depot 2031 Jackson Street.
Hope to see you there.
Thank you,
Nancy Kilmartin, Secretary
The Southwest Florida Historical Society
