Lee County Parks & Recreation invites families to gear up for the new school year at the Drive-Thru Back-to-School Bash from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 9, at Veterans Park Recreation Center, 55 Homestead Road S., Lehigh Acres.
This free event is designed to help local students start the school year prepared. Families can drive through the event to receive backpacks filled with school supplies with no need to leave the vehicle.
Backpacks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Children must be present in the vehicle to receive a backpack.
The backpacks and supplies are being provided by community organizations, including:
- Florida Blue
- Healthy Start
- CASCOLA
- City Takers SWFL
- Lehigh Cavaliers Domino & Community Club
- Moose Lodge 2266
