Lee County Parks & Recreation will host a free Back-to-School Bash from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug. 8, at Veterans Park Recreation Center, 55 Homestead Road South, Lehigh Acres.
The family-friendly event is designed to help local students start the school year prepared and confident. Families will have the opportunity to receive backpacks filled with school supplies, available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Children must be present to receive backpacks.
In addition to the event, Veterans Park Recreation Center is currently accepting donations of new backpacks and school supplies to support local children and families. Donations will be accepted through Wednesday, Aug. 5, at the recreation center.
Most-needed items include backpacks, pencils, notebooks and folders. Community contributions will help ensure students begin the school year ready to succeed.
