Travel back in time and relive the magic of two unforgettable decades! Join the Alliance for the Arts on Saturday, July 13 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. for the ultimate 80s vs. 90s Karaoke & Dance Party. This celebration of iconic music and culture promises a night to remember with special surprises and themed activities that will transport attendees back to the days of classic hits and unforgettable fashion. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $12 for members. The Alliance for the Arts is located at 10091 McGregor Blvd., just south of Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.
Promising a night of epic nostalgia, fierce dance-offs, and unforgettable memories, retro enthusiasts will have the chance to dance to the greatest hits from both iconic eras. DJ Joe Wisdom will be spinning tunes in the main gallery, creating an atmosphere to dance the night away. Meanwhile, those who love to sing can take the stage in the Foulds Theatre for an 80s vs. 90s karaoke showdown. Attendees are invited to grab their friends or take the stage solo to belt out their favorite tunes, with customized music videos from the eras playing in the background, hosted by Dying Cats Karaoke.
A highlight of the evening will be a special performance by John “Crusher” Healy, an Air Guitar World Championship Finalist who competed in Oulu, Finland. Healy began competing in 2007 in Los Angeles and has achieved notable accolades, including being a 3-time Regional Champion (2018, 2019, 2023), 3-time National Finalist (2018, 2019, 2023), and a 1-time World Championship Finalist (2019), where he was ranked #19 in the world. Additionally, he performed as the Jack Links air-guitaring “Sasquatch” for “The Ocho” event on ESPN in 2022. “Crusher” will give a sneak peek performance of his latest routine and invite the audience to join in an air guitar band performance.
Attendees are also encouraged to don their best retro attire. Whether you’re a fan of neon leg warmers, denim jackets, grunge flannel, acid-wash jeans, parachute pants, shoulder pads, leather jackets, or fingerless gloves, get ready to relive the vibrant fashion trends that defined the past decades.
