SARASOTA, Fla. (Feb. 3, 2021) – FYZICAL Therapy and Balance Centers has launched BodyQ, a new state-of-the-art diagnostic tool to measure the health and wellness of an individual’s muscles, joints, neurological systems and overall body functions.
BodyQ uses baseline testing to evaluate strength, flexibility, balance, posture, range of motion, hearing, vision and other factors to calculate an overall BodyQ score. From there, FYZICAL’s proprietary program produces a comprehensive report that patients can review with their physical therapist to determine the next steps in their health journey.
“BodyQ is not meant to be a one-time assessment,” said Dr. Chris Mulvey, PT, president for FYZICAL’s company clinics. “Once patients receive their baseline scores, they can work with a physical therapist or medical professional to customize a health and wellness plan specifically targeting areas for improvement. The goal is to prevent injuries and potential health problems before they occur.”
Initial BodyQ testing takes 60 to 90 minutes and includes many elements of a routine physical exam, like measuring a patient’s height, weight, blood pressure, pulse and other vitals. Patients are also asked to sit, stand, stretch, balance on one leg and demonstrate their strength, flexibility and endurance.
BodyQ reports offer numerical scores in six categories: basic health, balance and gait, spine and posture, functionality, flexibility and performance. Each category is color-coded to signify if a patient is in excellent, good, fair or poor condition. BodyQ was developed by medical professionals, physical therapists, nutritionists, vestibular specialists and balance specialists.
