Next month’s roster of activities at Riverdale Public Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:
Adult Programs
Knit and Stitch
1 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 15
A casual, self-guided group for knitting, crochet and other needle arts. Join in to share projects, ideas and techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and tools. Basic materials and supplies are available for newcomers.
Book Discussion: “Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter” by Heather Fawcett
10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 2

In Defense of Fort Myers

Learn, Play & Grow with Healthy Start of SWFL
10 a.m. Friday, July 10
In partnership with Healthy Start of SWFL, free developmental screenings will be offered for children ages 2 months – 5 years. Children can enjoy crafts, books, toys and games that help them learn and grow while parents can ask questions and receive helpful resources.
Unearth a Story with Windell Campbell
2 p.m. Thursday, July 16
Experience the art of puppetry with the art of storytelling. This summer reading program uses songs, props and audience participation to bring stories to life.
Pre-K Dinosaur Craft
10 a.m. Friday, July 17
This fun, hands-on program is just for preschoolers ages 3-5 years. Little ones will create their very own dinosaur craft using simple materials while practicing creativity and fine motor skills.
Coloring Club
2 p.m. Saturday, July 18

Do You Dig It? With FPAN
2 p.m. Thursday, July 23
Children will love digging into the fascinating history of pottery hosted by the Florida Public Archeology Network. Participate in hands-on experiments with Play-Doh or air-dry clay to delve into the art and science of pottery-making and decoration techniques. This summer reading program also explores how pottery serves as a crucial tool for archaeologists to unravel the stories of past cultures. Registration is not required but space is limited.
Discover Mollusks On The Move
10 a.m. Friday, July 24
Join an educator from the Bailey Matthews National Shell Museum & Aquarium for a reading of “Are You A Snail?” and learn all about the lives of these little mollusks. Afterward, paint your own wooden snail and meet a live mollusk from the museum. Registration is required.
Teen Programs
Dragon Vision Art
2 p.m. Tuesday, July 7
Guided by local artist, Mrs. M of icancreateart, join us to create an art piece of a zoomed-in view of a dragon’s eye. Using pens, markers and watercolors, you will create scales with definition and iris with bold blended colors, resulting in a fantastical image with texture in this creative summer reading program.
Dig It! Teen Drama
2 p.m. Tuesday, July 14
Using theater games, improv and fun challenges, teens “discover” characters and moments to create short scenes. A playful, low-pressure space to experiment, collaborate and have fun. No experience needed.

Teen Mario Kart Tournament

Get ready to take part in fun and friendly Mario Kart races in this summer reading program. Come show off your gaming skills and enjoy some friendly competition. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or a newcomer, this tournament is designed to be fun for all levels.
